Can Your IT Company Learn about Marketing from a Indian Legend?
A Cherokee legend of old gives great insight on the duality of man. The strife between good and evil. This is how the tale goes:
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
How what can an IT Company learn about marketing for an old legend?
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Similarly, we may find ourselves fighting the battle of our own. This battle is a difficult one because difficulties in life may make it seem near impossible to focus on the positive at times. The world is unforgiving; especially the world of business. On the way to the top of the food chain there is no doubt that business leaders will face adversity.
Perhaps in financial struggle or coping the loss of a valued client. Maybe you were blindsided by the competition. What we must learn from is that dwelling on the past won’t solve anything. The key is to not let the past fester by countering it with positive actions. Go out with some friends, do something you love or find relaxing, something you’ve never done before. The possibilities are endless when you’re not anchored.
But how can we apply this lesson to an MSP Business? An IT business leader exercising this level of positivism will show it in his marketing work. Your employees will follow suit of the joyous attitude and work ethic you bring to the office and into their lives. They will begin to exercise the same level of passion in their work as you lead them by your own example. Though this may sound like a lifestyle change it is much simpler than I’m making it sound. Don’t dwell on the negative, invest in the positive and it will be sure to show in life, in work, and all around you.
